I think I buggered up

Pretty sure I did the same workout two days in a row, thus being double the cardio I HAD to do. Totally weak but that explains the fetal position I was in at the end.

Tool, I'm a tool.

Someone mentioned to me that I should write a review on one of the tools I got for starting this venture of re-claimed health, or rather, the journey there, so consider this the first review on this blog.

I review everything, so I'm not sure why the thought to review the fitbit didn't cross my mind, I have been super pumped about it since before I even got it, yes, pumped, damn it, I have unknowingly adopted my friend Amanda's lingo, anyways, I have convinced six separate people to get one since I got mine in March and ALL of them are stoked on it, it's seriously awesome.

Ok, so I guess I should explain what it is, if you've not ventured off into fitbit world already and found out for yourself. The way I describe it, is it's a 3D activity monitor, yeah, it looks and acts as a pedometer, which is yawn worthy, but it's WAY more than that, yes it counts your steps, but it also calculates your caloric burn, if you've taken stairs and how many, how many floors you've climbed, and it has this flower that grows and gets more leaves on the stem, the higher your activity level, the bigger the flower! It's like a daily personal video game. It calculates your daily average and adjusts your flower and output based on your overall averages. It also wirelessly syncs with your computer which sends your data to your iphone or android to the fitbit app, or in my case, the myfitnesspal app, so it'll automatically adjust my daily exercise and tells me how many calories are burned, and how many I can consume. It's seriously awesome.

I was worried that the novelty would ware off and it would be one of those things I stopped using, but I got mine in march and I have and continue to use it EVERY DAY. It seems to give a better and more accurate caloric burn than the user imported data from myfitnesspal. My BIGGEST annoyance with myfitnesspal is the user imported data, I often see "soandso burned 456 calories doing 35 minutes of lawn bowling" and I just sigh; in my opinion, if you're burning that many calories lawn bowling, you'd first have to start out WEIGHING 456lbs and carrying about 100lbs of weights in that length of time. So, based on my weight/height/age and activity level, fitbit gives me a pretty healthy reading, and that's one more thing I don't have to log manually on a regular basis.

Another amazeballs feature is the sleep log. My son isn't known for his amazing nights of slumber, so if you wear the fitbit at night it actually calculates how long you slept, how long it took you to sleep, and when you were in a deep sleep, moreover how restful your sleep is. The added bonus is it let me know how often I was up with my son, so that was kind of cool. And if you want to get a certain number of hours of sleep, it'll tell you when to go to bed based on your previous nights, in order to get those hours restfully.

Overall I love it, I had a few times where the sync wasn't working, but I realized later that they were doing improvements, without doing anything, it remedied itself and all was right in the world.

So it's this cute little pink or blue and black clippy thing, you can wear it on your belt with the included belt clip accessory which I have never used, or if you have boobs, which I am quickly losing, you can clip it to your bra, the fitbit itself is a clip, so it just snaps on there and you forget about it until you reach down your shirt to show people what lies beneath....and to check on your cute little (or big) flower of course.

So if you want to try it, (99$) and you should, use my referral code, keeping in mind that the referral code came AFTER my purchase and in no way has motivated me to write this review. If you don't believe me, just do a fitbit search on youtube and you'll see that it's widely adored, and it's only $99, no monthly fees like bodybugg or some of the other ones, seriously, I love it so much I sleep with it every night. Customer service has been absolutely amazing, they sent me an extra base station and I could hug them for it.

Click here if I've already convinced you to get one, shipping in the US is overnight I think, shipping in Canada was six days, which was pretty good considering.

Oh, and you can get it to give you a name, mine calls me Dipshit. If you haven't moved for a while, it'll flash little messages at you like "get moving Dipshit" or "you rock Dipshit!"

the result of my morning workout
I can feel the love.
thankfully, they're water resistant, and yes, that is totally boob sweat, I just posted a picture of my boob sweat to the internet.

Still going! Insanity day 3

Not convinced anyone is reading this (being a closed blog and all) but I'm still going. Started insanity on Tuesday. Been looking for a workout that kicks my ass, the shred wasn't doing it anymore, so I did the Nike training app, it was good but not quite enough, I think I'll use it to team as a second daily routine as I like the variety but yeah insanity boots my ass, the dude isn't annoying like dude from p90x. I seriously have to go into another room when Mike works out, the guy from p90x drives me THAT mental. so far so good. Still not weighing myself. Just going by feel and by how clothes fit. I fell off the wagon this past week because I got a wicked cold and through it's course I missed 3 workouts so I feel like I'm starting from scratch.
I still have residual cold symptoms but those symptoms don't exist when I work out, so no excuses. Actually. It takes a LOT to convince me to NOT work out. A fricking lot. I know how much better I feel after I work out, and how much I want to wake up in the middle of the night to make up for not working out, so actually reasoning with myself to do it isn't an issue anymore. I just do it and instantly feel better, and think about where I may be this time next year. If I quit, it is all wasted. I have no desire no intention of quitting. I want to climb with Mike, I want to swim with the kids, I want to be able to relax without thinking how crappy I look or if I've got back fat showing or having my clothes dig into my Lard. I just want to be able, I'm quickly becoming able, you just can't see it yet.
